Logging Blocks Transferring Wire Rope.   Rope arrives on site on a reel, and must be transferred across to the winch drum.  Remember:  • Brake the reel to avoid overrun  • The rope should be wound tight at the correct tension to allow even spooling on the drum  • Ensure each layer winds evenly and at equal tension.  Make sure each additional layer fits tightly with the one below.  • Ensure that the rope bends in the same direction as it was stored on the reel  (see the diagram below).
